"Hello, Dr. Katie!" He greeted me calmly.

"How are you?" He asked while offering the water to me.

"Why the hell am I here?" I ignored the water bottle he offered.

"And what Dr. Katie?"

"I am not Dr. Katie."

I yell in desperation having lots of questions for him. Why am I here? Why did he kidnap me? And why the hell he is thinking that I am a Dr. Katie? Although I would love to be called Dr. Katie in general but not in this situation. Not here, when I am tied with rope and cannot even move. When my mouth is shut and when I see two handsome men with their guns in their pockets, not in this situation, please. Am I dreaming? If I am, then I need to wake up.

"Wake up Laura!" I whispered in a tense mood.

"What?" He snaps yelling.

"Oh great! This is not a dream." I said sarcastically taunting my thoughts.

"What did you say?" He asks.

"I don't know, why are you looking for Dr. Katie but I can assure you, I am not Dr. Katie."

I replied calming myself as I felt a little relief thinking, they might have kidnapped the wrong person and they would let me go.

He chuckles..... "That's a nice trick! Whenever someone is kidnapped they try to act like we have made some mistake."

A very nice and old trick." He says adding it with a smile.

"I am not lying.... trust me! I am not Dr. Katie." I again calmed myself trying not to lose my control. I have to keep this patience to survive.

After listening to me he wipes off his grin from his face. He looked at the other man who was standing right beside him. They looked at each other for a while sharing that tense and confused look. It seems like they are having a conversation face-to-face without moving their lips. Come on man! Who does that?

"Hello"

"Earth to kidnapper!"

I yelled. They both stopped looking at each other and started to glare towards me.

"I am not Dr. Katie! I can prove that."

I said in a panic as I could see that they were not believing me. I need to make them trust me, will they?

"How would you prove?" He asked.

"I have my ID card in my pocket." I trembled.

"Open her hands!" He says to Clay, glancing at the rope tied on my hands.

He soon opened my hand and I reached into my pocket realizing that I was wearing Dr. Katie's coat. Shit! That's the reason they are thinking that I am Dr. Katie. And with that realization, I found that I don't have my ID card with me.

I panicked.....

"I think, it's in another pocket." I started to tremble.

My hands were shaking, and I reached the other side of my pocket in search of my ID card.

He noticed, my hand trembling and concluded that I didn't have an ID card.

He immediately tells his men to tie back my hands.

"No....No! I might have misplaced it. Please...Give me a chance." I begged desperately. The tears started to fall one by one in anxiety.

"Let's cut this drama, I already have a lot of work." He scoffs.

"I want a favor from you." He says adding to it, carelessly.

The way he talked to me, I couldn't hold myself and got angrier.

"First of all, I am not Dr. Katie. And secondly, Is this the way you ask for a favor?"

"If you wanted a favor from Dr. Katie, you could have asked her politely."

I yelled.

"Again that drama cut the f*ck hell." He snaps back, yelling at me.

"I want a favor from you. I have a f*cking patient lying over there and I want you to treat him." He says.

"What?"

"I can't.....I can't treat him."

"I haven't even treated anyone yet." She stutters.

"What?"

"You are Dr. Katie Brown, the best surgeon of Saint Peter's Hospital and you are saying that you haven't performed on anyone yet. Are you crazy?" He confronts.

"I told you, I am not Dr. Katie. For how many times, do I have to tell you this?"

"I am merely a learner at the hospital, who is learning to become a doctor."

I tried to make him understand.

He stood up from the chair quite and walked out of the room. I hope, now he understands that I am not Dr. Katie.

There were so many thoughts building in my mind like; Did he believe that I am not Dr. Katie?, What is he thinking right now?, What will he do now? Will he let me go now? I hope he understands and lets me leave here.

"Find a photo of Dr. Katie's from the hospital," I said to Clay.

He soon arranged the photo with all the information about her.

"Here it is," Clay says while handing over the paper to me.

I immediately saw the picture of Dr. Katie Brown and to my surprise, the one we kidnapped and the original Dr. Katie is not the same.

"Have I got the wrong information? The picture is not the same as hers." Clay says confusingly.

"As per the information Dr. Katie is of age 45, and this girl who we kidnapped seems to be the age of 25,"  I said glaring at the paper.

"How is that possible?" Clay confronts.

"Unless who we got is not the one we are looking for," I said staring at the girl.

"She was saying correctly, we made a mistake." Clay seems woefully disappointed.

"How did that happen?" I asked.

"She was wearing Dr. Katie's coat, waiting for the elevator. I thought she was the one but it seems she was just wearing her doctor's coat." Clay explained.

"Now what to do? Do I go back and get the Dr. Katie?" He asked.

"No, we can't do that now. We need to change our plan." I replied.

The original plan was to kidnap Dr. Katie and get her to treat the patient. After that, we would have sent her far away but now everything has changed. We cannot get Dr. Katie now because then there will be two people who are kidnapped. And, after that, we need to take care of two people.

"There is only one way left," I whispered.

Laura Lewis

I was waiting.....

Waiting for him to come back.

To say that he believes in me, and will let me go. Am I hoping too much? I might be.

I heard the voice of a door opening. The light rays upon my face as soon as the doors open. He was there, coming towards me. Looking at him, speed walking towards me. It seems different. Why am I feeling that he is angry?

He reached and said one of his men, to untie me. Oh my god! It's happening he is letting me go. He pulls my arm angrily, getting me out of my chair. He turns and starts to walk dragging me along. The force he is using to hold my hand and drag me to the outside of the room shows how angry he is.

"You are hurting me," I yelled.

He ignored me and continued his walk while dragging me with him. We reached the other room. As soon as we entered the room he left my hand, pushing me forward. I almost fell but grabbed my footing, luckily. I saw a man lying on the stretcher in front of me. I could see he was unconscious. He lost too much blood as he was shot in his arm. The room was filled with blood on the floor. There was also a man standing beside the patient, trying to stop the blood.

"Treat him." I heard a voice.

I was having a problem in breathing. I started to breathe loudly. The patient had already lost too much blood. I am only a learner, not a doctor yet. If I could have treated him, still I wouldn't be able to save him. He was a gone case.

 "I can't.." I stutter while walking backward.

He stopped me, holding my elbow. And, pushed me back to the patient.

"I am not asking you, whether you will treat him or not. I am giving you an order to treat him." He yells at me.

"I said, I can't treat him." I snapped back glancing at him.

"Give her the surgical gown, mask, and gloves. So, that she can start the operation." He says to his man.

"Didn't you hear me, I said, I wouldn't treat him," I replied.

Another man came close to me and gave me the gown. I threw the gown. The man took another gown from the table beside me and tried to put that on me. I resist by slapping him. Then another man came towards me with the gown. I started to fight with them. They tried to stop me. There were exactly three men. One was with the patient, the second was the right-hand man of the leader and the third was the leader itself.  The one for whom they kidnapped me (i.e., the leader) was standing at the door while watching the fight. The other two men left, and came towards me, trying to let me wear the gown, mask, and gloves.

I kicked one of his men in the balls. He was not that much stronger. For the other one, he was stronger than me. However, I tried to resist, he was not giving up. I had to punch him in the face a few times and then kick him on the balls. The leader was still standing far away, watching everything.

As soon as I, saw them giving up, I felt relief. My hands were not tied so, I could fight with them. But, unfortunately, however strong I was with the men, the leader was the smartest. He walked towards me and got his gun from his back, aiming towards my head.

The gun.... the strongest weapon to get anyone on his knees. Again, I became the weaker.

"I said to treat him."

"There is no option left for you." He says, aiming the gun on my head.

"I can't treat him, I am not a doctor," I yelled nervously.

"I know." He replied.

He knows... I am not Dr. Katie, so why the hell am I still here?

"Whether you are a doctor or not, you have to treat him. You don't have any options."

"Do you wanna die?" He asks.

I took the gown from the ground and wore it, following the mask and the gloves. When I passed my exams. I took an oath. However, the situation will be, my priority will always be to treat the patients. I decided to treat him. Whether it was because of the fear of dying or for the medical oath. I had to save him and me from this ruthless man.

Before starting the operation. I asked him to drop the gun down. As I couldn't focus on the patient.

"I forgot to tell you, I want him alive anyhow." He orders glaring at me while leaving the room.

His men were there to help me with the operation.

"As I am a learner, I have only studied in the books how to perform a surgery. I have not yet entered the operation room for a live surgery." I utter nervously.

"My name is Clay." One of his men introduces him.

"However, the situation is, you have to save him to save your life," Clay says calmly glancing at me.

The other man who was standing beside the patient said- "Let's start it, I'll help you."

I started by putting the IV lid on the patient. He has lost a lot of blood so I asked to arrange the blood. We didn't have time to find out the type of patient blood. So, I requested the O+ blood from Clay. As O+ blood types are the universal donors. Clay left.

As the patient had lost almost his blood, he was unconscious. So, I didn't have time to give him anesthesia. I sterilized the wound first took a scalpel blade in my hand, and started cutting the skin near the gunshot wound.

"Here's the blood." I heard Clay's voice coming from behind.

"How did you get the blood so fast?"

"It's hardly been half an hour," I asked curiously.

"One of our members gave it." He replied.

I am surprised that they desperately want to save him. Although the O+ blood type is very rare, they managed to get it from one of them.

I gave the blood to another man so that he could inject the blood into the patient. I was not very sure If I could save him. But, when did I have a choice? So, I begin to recall what I have studied from books and the professor.

I was searching for the bullet inside the patient's arm with the help of forceps. I couldn't find it at first because the bullet had already harmed the tissues. But, I guess, I was lucky to find a bullet in time.

"Why are you not taking out the bullet?" Clay asked me.

I had stopped the operation letting the forceps rest on the table. I took a step back and bent my knees to get into a squat position. I took a deep breath while getting lost in my deep thoughts.

"What happened?, Why are you sitting down? Why are you not doing anything?" Clay asked too many questions.

I didn't have any reply for them. I only had one fear before taking out the bullet. The fear of not letting him die and for that when I take a bullet out, it shouldn't be having any issues of blood pressure.  If the issue strikes, I am afraid, I won't be able to save him.

"What are you waiting for? You have found the bullet, just take it out?" Clay yelled while making me stand up from the squat position.

He gave me forceps on my hand and pushed me forward to continue the surgery. It seems I don't have many options as I am not experienced. I have to take that bullet out.

As soon as I, hold the forceps tightly to remove the bullet. My hands started to shiver. I couldn't control my hands. And, that led to forceps slipping from my hand to the ground. I panicked. And, tried to control my hand with the other one. But, that didn't stop the shivering.

I heard the footsteps approaching rapidly towards me. He was there..... the leader of them came back to the room and took forceps from the ground. And, gave them to me, holding my hand tightly. So, that the shiver could stop. He didn't let go of my hand. Instead, he moved my hand toward the patient's arm and tried to take the bullet out. The moment he grabbed my hand, I stopped thinking and just simply followed him. It was like, he was controlling my hands with his.

To my surprise, he took out the bullet in a second. Which I have been thinking about for the past twenty minutes. As soon as he took out the bullet, he let go of my hand, leaving forceps behind.

The holter machine started to beep rapidly. The fear came true. As soon as the bullet was out, the blood pressure started to drop instantly. And, the patient went unstable.

To be continued.....
